ICT Strategy Projects
A key element of the ICT in Arts and Humanities Research Programme was the ICT Strategy Projects Scheme. This scheme, a one-off programme of funding, was launched with a call for bids in October 2004. A total of almost £1 million was allocated to 12 projects falling into two categories: knowledge-gathering and resource-development. These projects operated as a broad, coordinated and complementary set of activities, and were overseen by the ICT Programme’s Steering Committee.
The main aim of the knowledge-gathering projects was to collect information and to develop ideas about infrastructure needs and resources relating to the use of ICT for Arts and Humanities research. The Programme has thus sought to ensure a wide spectrum of coverage in this strand, and has focused on critical strategic issues such as e-science and peer-review of digital resources; see also our page on Review Activities. Two projects were concerned with ICT tools and methods in the arts and humanities. All these projects have now been completed, and Final Reports are now available.
The aim of the resource-development strand of the scheme was to build tools and resources of broad relevance across the range of the AHRC’s academic subject disciplines. These projects have also been completed and are listed below.
